When you learn reiki you can go through three different levels, or attunements. At each level, practitioners unlock a new understanding of reiki healing and develop further skills to allow them to heal themselves and others.

Reiki Level One covers the basics of reiki healing and attunes you to flow reiki through your hands. This enables you to begin using reiki on yourself and others during in-person sessions. The focus of this level is to unlock reiki energy channels throughout your body and to learn to use specific hand placements for a reiki healing session. You learn how to use reiki for self-healing and to help friends and family.

Reiki Level Two provides a deeper understanding of reiki, and students are taught to send distance reiki through time and space, to heal people and communities away from your current location. Healing is focused on mental and emotional levels. Although you may begin practicing reiki on yourself and others after learning Reiki Level One, the focus of Reiki Level Two is to expand your practice beyond yourself and to use your healing practice to help heal others.

Reiki Level Three elevates practitioners to a teaching level and expands your understanding of reiki to the point of being able to attune others to the first two levels of reiki. Receiving this attunement and training represents a deep commitment to the practice and ideology of reiki and is recommended for those who wish to practice reiki healing professionally.
